Prayer for my Children Day 6

I know and I know and I know, when I read the scripture I can clearly hear God speaking to me. Many times I have experienced God speaking to me about whatever I had been praying and thinking about through the scripture. He always, without fail, encourages me and gives me hope through His Word. So, why am I negligent about reading the Bible?

It's been my life time struggle as a Christian to read and meditate on the word of God. It really has been. I've prayed and fasted over it, it has made the  #1 spot on my new year's resolution, I've asked people to pray that I can read and study more. Reading the Bible just hasn't become second nature to me yet. I want it badly because I know it's powerful. When I understand God's heart through his Word, I become more like Him. I want to hear with my ears, understand with my heart and be healed (Acts 28:27).

When I hear some parents share about how they do daily quiet time with their children, I shut down in shame. My husband and I tried and failed, we tried and failed, and we tried and failed. We keep on trying though we fail. When our sons were younger, they used to beg to read the Bible together in bed, now they are too busy with school work and other activities. I feel my husband and I have done a fairly good job in modeling Christian characters in the home (I hope), but I feel we have not been very successful in teaching the word to our children at home. Both are important ways of teaching.

I got myself a 90 day bible study guide book. I try to do a chapter a day but I miss some days and I don't beat myself and give up. I just pick up where I left off. I read prayer verses with my children, sometimes we forget but we don't let it bring us down. We just start over the next day. Sometimes, we just have to keep going despite the failures on the way. I know we will find treasure hidden in the field as we work toward it.

Day 6: Love for God's Word: May my children grow to find Your Word more precious than much pure gold and sweeter than honey from the comb. (Ps.19:10)
