Prayer for My Children: Day 26: Gratitude

Day 26: Gratitude " Help my children to live lives that are always overflowing with thankfulness and always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ". (Eph 5:20, Col 2:7)

Today (10/28) is my daughter's birthday. She was born 19 years ago in the Lenox Hill Hospital in the upper East side of Manhattan. It's where JFK, Jr and other famous Manhattanites were born. At the time of her birth my husband and I were going through our first valley of despair together. Soon after we found out about pregnancy, we were faced with some difficulties in our life. We were very sad and anxious about everything during that time. Everything we've known to be our future was taken away. Some people suggested that we should not be pregnant at such difficult time. It was horrible. When she was finally born, healthy and perfect, we named her Jane (God's gracious gift) and her middle name Myung In (The source of light), she was born at 5:55 PM (5 -grace). She was and is essence of grace, grace, and grace in our life.  God gifted us with Jane as a token of His grace in our lives.

I was awakened at 5:55 AM this morning. I am not a morning person at all and tried to go back to sleep but I couldn't. I remembered it was Jane birthday today so I started praying for her. I was reminded how thankful we were that she was born healthy and so beautiful. I was also reminded how quickly we forgot to be thankful for just for the mere fact that she is our child.  We wanted more and more for her and from her.

Today, I am reminded once again, to be thankful for the grace of God in my life and my children's lives. No matter what, we can always count on the blessings from above.
